Pass It Along

Hello friends,

We are winding down on our best wedding season ever.  Thank you to all the couples out there who allowed us to use our creativity to capture you wedding day.  We feel very thankful for the number of truly stellar people we got to meet this year.

This week has been a special week.  First of all, my baby daughter, Zoe Fiona, was born weighing 10lbs 14oz and 23 inches long.  We are enjoying her a lot.

Also, I just found out from the editorial staff at The Knot that we have been selected to receive an award for Best of Weddings 2010 Northeast Ohio Outstanding Photographer.  This award was voted for by brides who were surveyed by the Knot.  Thank you so much to those who nominated and voted for us.  I didn't even know we had been nominated, and today I find out we won!  This is a big honor.

Also, we were notified earlier this week that a photo Mat took was chosen by a really large International Photo Competition to receive an Accolade of Excellence.  It was an entry in the "Bride Alone" category.

I hope you all have a wonder Thanksgiving and enjoy the time with your families this week.

Pass It Along

We had the pleasure of shooting Chad and Jennifer a few Fridays ago.  I think I say every shoot went great and I want to say the same about this one because it did.  I guess I cannot help it when we work with such wonderful clients all the time.  look for yourself and see.  They are a great couple and we cannot wait to shoot their wedding next year.

Jen and Craig - A Halloween Wedding

Pass It Along

Before I went over the details with Jen about her Halloween wedding I was not sure what to expect.  A wedding with that theme can go a few different directions, but as the pictures will show it was certainly a fun experience.  Jen and Craig were both gravely (pun intended) sick the week of the wedding, but you would not be able to tell from their action.  They had a great time and we were lucky to have some nice weather.

Instead of bubbles, they opted for trick-or-treat whistles.

You sure cannot have a Halloween themed wedding without a vampire shot...

...or a Friday the 13th one either.

The groom as Gumby...and the best man thought his speech would be well received as a microphone.

This cake was amazing!

...and the guests!

We went for a few more photos the day after the wedding.  There was a park with a Halloween walk near by that we planned on shooting at for a while ahead of time.  But when we got there we were pleasantly surprised, for all the decorations were intact (like the sea of jack-o'-lanterns below) and even the small haunted houses were available for shooting in.

Riki and Brien Married!

Pass It Along

I couldn't have asked for a sweeter wedding to close out my shooting season.  Riki broke my all-time record by hiring me 3 days before the wedding.  Normally, I book weddings about a year in advance.  I'm so glad she got a hold of me because I was able to capture a truly unique wedding.  The ceremony and reception were in a converted warehouse in Cleveland.  It was a smaller group of family and friends.  I could tell right away that Brien and Riki were the creative types.  Everything they did with the wedding had such a neat style.  Best of all, they were up for trying anything with photos and allowed me to experiment (see last 2 photos) :)

Enough said...Take a peak

This mirrored stairwell caught my attention immediately.  I even managed a few self-portraits

The gentleman were keeping the gals warm on this one.  It was a beautiful, but chilly november day.

This group was so fun.  They enjoyed an leaf throwing war for a while.

Here's my fave

No unity candles for these two.  They elected to stoke the fire with their unity torches.  I loved how the close family was so involved with the ceremony.  And Brien and Riki of course wrote their own vows.

Here is the setting for their November in Cleveland outdoor wedding.  I was big fan.

I wasn't the only pro the job at night as you can see.

Here was are parting shot.  I think these two will always be happy together.

Congrats Riki and Brien on a great wedding celebration.  I'm glad I could be a part of it.

Alys and Matt - Married!

Pass It Along

Kristin (my wife and talented second shooter) and I had a great shoot the other Saturday.  The day was a bit chilly but we had good light and Matt and Alys were terrific to work with.  We loved the laid-back nature of everyone and we hope they enjoy the pictures.  [Also, Matt's father was from Sicily and runs a bakery.  At the reception we were able to partake in his delectable treats and boy were they amazing.  I have had a few canolies in my life and they were nothing to get excited over, but these were to die for!]

They decided to go with small edible hearts instead of bubbles or rice etc.  and after shaking them out of their clothing for the rest of the evening, I think they would have decided differently if they could turn back time.

Matt seems to have concluded that "If you cannot beat them - you should eat them" (and no I am not above being cheezy now and again).

Alys and Matt chose the song "All I Want Is You" by Barry Louis Polisar (from the movie Juno) as their first dance song.  It was a choreographed event and it was delightful.  Everyone was entertained and they seemed to have enjoyed it themselves.
