Pass It Along

I'd really like some feedback on this one so I've come up with a bit of a survey.  Please cast your vote in the comments section on Which Version of This Photo is Best?

I had the opportunity to shoot this wedding on Saturday and I've got some special ones from this wedding to share very soon, but for now I chose one nice romantic, candid shot from the park.  I shot this at 1.6 with a 50mm.  Nice bokeh, heh:)  Now what I'm wondering is this...Do you like this photo in Black and White, Color, or with Spot Color.  Personally, it's sometimes hard for me to turn a nice outdoor shot that captures vivid color into Black and White.  I have a much easier time with indoor shots in Black and White.  As far as spot color goes...Does anybody still like that effect?  I though this was a good photo to use in order to find out from you.  FEEDBACK PLEASE

#1 FULL COLOR

#2 BLACK AND WHITE

#3 SPOT COLOR

Only the flowers in color

Let me know what you think. Thanks

Alice:

Definetely the full color is the best! The colors are so vivid, with the black and white you are taking away from the photo! Beautiful!

linda dubois:

I really prefer the full color, with them in black and white the color comes out.

Nelli:

I think that I like the full color best on this photo... I like that you can see the green background, they are wearing black & white, and then her bouquet is nice and bright color!

I was photographing a wedding yesterday in Olmsted Falls when a rusty train rushed through the middle of town at about 80mph. Bride and Groom in focus at 1/30th. These were some of my best ever. Processing begins tomorrow.  Can't wait for you to see them.  Also, Mat showed me some pics from the wedding he shot at Pickwick Frolics last week.  He's going to get those up this week and there are some shots unlike anything either of us have ever produced.  Today he's getting his hard-earned Master's degree at John Carroll University.  Congrats Mat!

Here are a few fun shots from the wedding I shot at Grand Pacific in Olmsted Falls last week...As you can tell from these pics, they were both (and the whole wedding party for that matter) all about enjoying and celebrating the day.

You have to appreciate the best man's face on the above shot. Amazing - yet slightly disturbing.

Usually I don't blog the same wedding on three separate occasion, but the more I processed the more I needed to share.

Here is a brave moment when Jim and Sarah went for hot dogs at a downtown cleveland street vendor, before the ceremony.

And here we have some grunge shots.  I love contrasting the beauty and elegance of a wedding with the grit of a colorful urban setting.

Pass It Along

Hello there.  I'm all about big color in photos, but isn't there something special about the ancient art of black and white photography that will never get old.  It sends a mood that the big color can't sometimes.  Here are a few examples from the last wedding I shot.  I explore a lot with colors and tones, but sometimes a simple black and white pushes aside everything else and gets us to the heart of the story.

Here's the first time Jim saw Sarah

And here the kids observing the photos.  These were fun kids and as you will soon see, we got some great pics of them...
