Dan + Hollie Engaged!
2010-06-15It brings me joy just to be able to go back to these photos. From the moment I met Dan and Hollie I knew being able to photograph their wedding was going to be a privilege and an joy. Edgewater Park was the choice for the engagement sessions because it has some sentimental value to them, and I'm a big fan of sentimental value. They told us how this was the place where Dan first called Hollie. Ever since that phone call life hasn't been the same for either of them. By spending a few hours with them, I can pretty confidently say that life changed for the better. Nelli and I both got that wonderful sense that Dan and Hollie are indeed meant for each other. They are soul mates who found each other that evening when Dan pulled out his phone at Edgewater Park. As we walked the park I asked Holli what it was that grabbed her attention. How did he win your over? Holli's response was that Dan made her laugh and she loved how he made her laugh every day. This wasn't surprising to me. For Dan had already made us laugh with a little dance he pulled out early in the shoot. She said he made her laugh every day. And that is precisely why this was such a wonderful session to be a part of. We photographed and we laughed and we photographed and we laughed, and then we watched the sunset go down together.

Ryan and Adrienne Married!
2010-06-12From the very first time I spoke to Adrienne and Ryan on the phone I knew their wedding was going to be special. They were so excited about the wedding. I knew Jim would be the perfect photographer for their event. Jim has been an associate photographer with us pretty much since we started. He's the type of guy who will do whatever it takes to get the special shot. I remember when he first started photographing with me, he would be on the floor at the dances at the reception trying to get angles with the chandeliers behind the bride and groom. Sometimes I would think that was too much to lay on the floor until I saw the image. On a rainy day in June, he was able to photograph Ryan and Adrienne's special day in the beautiful setting of Mohican, but it rained. It rained a lot. But instead of wimpering and settling for less than stellar images, Jack, Jim, Adrienne and Ryan decided to venture into the wetlands. Truly, the love these two have for each other would make any gray day beautiful. Take a look.
This is their first meeting...

I love these two images from Jack as their leaving the field.

I posted these images for Jim because he's shooting a wedding for us today and I know how excited Ryan and Adrienne are to see the pictures. Jim, David and Tiffany are our three brilliant associate photographers and I feel blessed to be able to work with them. They love people and pictures. Congrats to you Ryan and Adrienne! You are an inspiration to those around you.

There were many memorable things about this wedding and the photographer(s) seems to have captured those and put them in print for you to save forever. My two favorites are the shot with the two of you walking under the umbrella as you leave Mt. Jeez and then the Mary Poppins and Huck Finn silhouette pic as you are walking away. You'll probably never see a photo like that in any other wedding album. What a story to tell your grandchildren!

Susan Sublett:
Wow!! What great pictures. The photos really capture the fun personality of these two. My favorite was where the two of them were in the field under the umbrella looking out to see what adventure is next for them, and not letting a little rain keep them down. That so defines who they are. Perfect shot. Many other favorite too like the bridesmaids, the garter, and it looks like perhaps Adrienne is jumping in the field. Congratulations to the couple and the photographer on such beautiful pictures.
Matt Gerber:
Excellent pictures. I, too, am a big fan of the silhouette shot. Welcome back, you two!

Lindsay and Justin Married!
2010-06-09Each wedding I shoot has certain elements that stand out. Most weddings have a similar form - Catholic, Protestant, Jewish or the like - nearly all weddings I shoot have many similarities. So as a photographer I am always looking for what makes each wedding special (something outside the form of the wedding). This was the first Macedonian Orthodox wedding we have photographed, but having shot Greek Orthodox weddings before it was not too different. The celebrations at the reception were unique, but the element of Lindsay and Justin's wedding day that caught my attention were their family connections. One could see it in Justin's joy in celebrating with his family both in Macedonian traditions as well as in American ones, and you could see it in a different way between Lindsay and her father (especially during the father-daughter dance). It was family, both in Lindsay and Justin's connection with their own families, as well as the connection they showed as they started their own family that day, which stood out to me as the element that made their day unique.

This next one is my favorite of the day.

I had to put this one in for the fun of it.

NICE!

The ring bearer dancing with and dipping the bride is classic!

Jill:

Kami and Jeremy married!
2010-06-08I got to shoot Kami and Jeremy's wedding last Saturday. This was my first one of the year that I was the main photographer. I was super excited, and I was even able to take my good friend Liz with me to help assist me. Jesse had been teaching me tons of new techniques, and I had been practicing all week.
When we woke up, it was pouring rain! But it just worked out, that every time we needed the rain to stop, it did, and we were able to get all the shots that we needed outside taken.
Jesse had a wedding this day too. I am super happy that he decided to let me take the 1.2 50mm lens. I used that most of the day. It's my favorite lens.

Since it was rainy, we took these shots in her parents sun room. The roof was leaking and wasn't the prettiest as far as backgrounds go... but *perfect* light. Her dad later told me that they were ripping that room down!

Here is Jeremy with his boys.

These two were so happy to be married. Right before Kami came down the isle, Jeremy was waiting... and watching the door. He said out loud, "Let me see her already!" It was so cute.

The kiss

Husband and wife!

The bubbles...

We took the artistic pictures at Lakeview Park in the rose gardens. The roses are sooo beautiful right now!

I love how Kami's eyeshadow matched her flowers! :)

These two are my favorites of the day.

This might be my favorite too!

Their first dance:

For their night shot, we went outside to a fountain. It kind-of looks like a neon volcano is erupting behind them!

Congratulations Kami and Jeremy!
Love:
the pictures are amazing! I just adore the waterfall pictures.
Tiffany:

Nelli, you truly have an impeccable eye for detail...every shot is flawless! I was so excited to see how they would all turn out and they are all so beautiful. I would have to agree with everyone else that the bubble shots are amazing. You have really captured everyones expressions and have such a gift for putting people at ease so that they dont look posed. Very Impressive.

I cant decide if I like the rose garden shots the best or the beach shots, or no - the Bubble shots - cant wait to see the rest!

Stephanie and Jonathan Married
2010-05-29It takes a special person to not only have the intelligence to become a medical doctor or a veterinarian, but also have the desire to care for people and animals as well. Stephanie, who is beginning her residency as an emergency room doctor at Emory, and Jonathan who recently completed his education to become a veterinarian have these rare qualities. I was only able to spend a day with them, but that day was enough to see that Jonathan and Stephanie were not only great people, but they are great for each other. It was a pleasure and we wish them luck in Atlanta.

I have been wanting to try out this next photograph for a while. I was pleased with the results.

Stephanie and Jonathan were real troopers. When we arrived at the church Kristin and I noticed this fire escape on the side of a building covered with ivy on the church grounds. Stephanie, high heals and all, with the assistance of Jonathan hiked up the escape. even though they ran into a few gnats up there, the pictures were worth it.

These next few shots remind me of an old mission out West. I think the shot on the right below is my favorite of the day.

Although this is the second time we have photographed the wedding party in a tree, this one was a bit taller than the last. One of the bridesmaids asked if they qualified as one of the most adventurous groups I have shot, and the answer is yes.

I am a huge fan of the cake smash. You only get to do this once, so why not have a ball?

Night shots are quickly becoming my favorite thing to shoot. It is certainly tricky, but I love it. It is not possible with every reception venue or schedule, but when it is right it is a great addition to the day.

Barb :
