Chris and Sharon Engaged!

Pass It Along

I've shot more engagement shoots at this park than anywhere else.  Every one has been special.  This evening with Chris and Sharon was no exception.  Nelli and I have been trying to shoot together more often this year, and probably even more in 2011.  We've shot separately with our awesome associate photographers for a long time, so when we get a mid-week session when we're not both booked, we love to shoot it together.  This felt like a fun "date night out" for us.  Let me show you why.

We love taking photos together, so a midweek session is like a date for us where we get to be creative and get to know other couples.

This is where I passed the camera to Nelli.  Can you see what Chris has behind his back?

I love it when Nelli and I can combine our perspectives on a shot like this.

I think I found my favorite, but it was a tough choice.

I don't think I'm the only one.

I was so happy to be able to be able to shoot with Nelli that I had to post a photo of her as the intro to what soon became one of our best engagement sessions ever.  It was wasn't Nell? " Yes, It was Jesse."  Yes, Nelli says hello.  We sit here together editing photos, designing albums into the wee hours of the night.  She actually just brought me some jalapeno/garlic stuffed olives to give the little pick-me up I need.  Was it not the best ever Nelli?  "I think your last shoot is always your favorite." Yes.

Now for more of the most adventurous couple I know.  These two took some dangerous steps for these shots with us.  No broken cameras and several smiles later it was well-worth it.

Can't wait for this wedding!

Katie and Dustin - Engaged!

Pass It Along

I met up with Katie and Dustin a few days back to shoot some engagement pics.  They are getting married next summer.  Engagement shoots are a great way for me as a photographer to get to know a couple before the wedding day as well as a great way to get shots that we often can't get during a wedding (like shot of the bride sitting on the a rock etc.).  This shoot was no exception.  Katie and Dustin met at Ashland where Dustin played football.  I also discovered Dustin and his family are jewelers (so I tried to hook them up with some extra sweet pics of Katie's ring - which was amazing).  Katie just finished her first year of law school and she was able to share with me a bit of what was going on in her life that made the evening extra special.  I can't wait till next year when I get to be there when they tie the knot.  Good luck with all the planning guys!

Dustin almost slipped on the algae here and some how busted out his athletic skills and made the greatest recovery I have witnessed.  Since he was safe - the shot was certainly worth it.

Ravi and Nina Engaged

Pass It Along

I had an engagement shoot the other day that was something special.  I find my self shooting doctors and nurses more and more lately, it is probably due to the fact that this part of Ohio might not have a lot going for it, but we appear to be top notch in the medical realm (but I digress).  This particular couple (Nina and Ravi) were  not only doctors - they were also attractive enough to be models.  For me, photography is about beauty - but not in the way you might think.  If I wanted to capture attractiveness, I would pursue fashion photography, or if I wanted to capture an image that is simply breathtaking to all who view it, I might take up landscape photography.  I, on the other hand, love to capture emotion.  I believe that relationships are the greatest gift humankind has been given.  To capture the love between a couple or even a child's look toward a parent is more meaningful  than shooting a photo that appears on the cover of Vogue.  The reason why shooting Ravi and Nina was so special was not because they were attractive and easy to photograph (though they were to the point that if I could not produce a great photo with them I would need to find another job), but because they showed a love that was not only playful, but also possessed a deepness that can be felt in the shots.  I can't express how much I am looking forward to shooting their wedding.  The day is fast approaching.

Pass It Along

Nelli and I met up for coffee with Jordan and Melissa last week before heading to the lake.  We talked about their story.  Jordan and Melissa are work love story.  They graduated from the same school, with the same degree and were hired at the same time by the same employer.  Coincidence?:) That's when the sparks began to fly, usually at lunchtime.  I realized right away what the theme of this shoot was going to be - Romance.  They had the great idea of bringing a bottle of wine and a couple glasses.  Somehow we managed to bring the glasses back safely.

So here we have one of the several pictures of Jordan being mesmerized by Melissa's eyes.

This is when we had to warn Jordan that if he doesn't pull out of the love-gaze soon, their love-tanks might not be the only thing to overflow:)

Congrats to you both Jordan and Melissa.  We had a wonderful time with you.  We celebrate with you that you found each other and look forward to the wedding!

Amy and Eric - Are Going To Get Married!

Pass It Along

As a wedding photographer it is common to shoot a bride and groom exiting the church in a sea of bubbles.  When Amy and Eric told me that they brought bubbles for the end of their engagement shoot I immediately thought these bubbles would be like wedding bubbles.  I was pleasantly surprised to discover that they were huge bubbles, and toy story ones no less.  Shooting a couple in love and topping the evening off with a huge bubble fight was a great experience.  Right from the get go, Eric and Amy were comfortable enjoying the moment with each other and as a photographer I could not ask for anything else.

Good luck on all the preparation for the wedding, and we can't wait to be a part of your day.
